Process.
My process is a highly defined rudimentary process. I use clay slabs and the hand building method to create most of my products. Instead of spinning clay on a wheel to create cylindrical forms, I roll the clay out like pie crust, add texture and form it into shapes using my hands. This technique is like sewing with the use of patterns, yet the clay is more manipulative than fabric. Instead of stitching with a needle and thread, I use wet clay and my fingers to attach pieces together. There are no rules when hand building, and cylinders aren't the end goal! Most of my products have a functional purpose, from trinket dishes and treasure boxes to mugs and platters. I like to make sure that everything I create begs to be touched and used for function while also offering an aesthetic beauty.
After a few years of making pottery for myself and my family, I decided to turn the activity I love most into a business, and share this passion with my community. What I love most about my business is making connections with others. Whether through interactions at art sales or during group workshops, I truly enjoy engaging with my community and making connections through my art.
